The Financial Controller has overall responsibility for being the financial lead in providing high quality,  accurate financial information as well as advice for Orega.


Key Responsibility


  • Work closely with the Finance Director, budget holders and Centres to deliver a high quality service to the business.
  • Work with the Finance Director in interpreting financial information and variances from budget/forecast and offer guidance and advice so that potential financial impacts can be identified early enough for effective corrective action to be taken.
  • Assist the Finance Director to ensure Orega’s financial and statutory accounts and all related ledgers and expenses are maintained and completed in accordance with Orega’s accounting policies/statutory requirements.
  • Maintain integrity of the accounts by regular review and ensuring control accounts and reconciliations are completed.
  • Review and approve supplier payments.
  • Produce/publish financial statements in accordance with agreed timetables and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Liaise with Orega’s external accountants and manage the annual audit/National Statistics Office requirements/processes to ensure year end accounts are filed accurately and on time.
  • Ensure delivery (in association with the HR Manager) of the annual pay/bonus review.
  • Prepare annual tax packs and manage all ongoing tax works.
  • Proactively handle bad debts.
  • Ensure day to day Centre cash flow management, supplier and bank payments and all reporting is completed accurately and on time.
  • Ensure the quarterly VAT reconciliation process is completed accurately and on time.
  • Review controls and implement process improvement/Enablement across the Finance team.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all Orega personnel/stakeholders.


Team Management

  • Supervise the finance team to ensure revenue is recorded and captured accurately.
  • Promote a good team-working environment and a full complement of staff at all times.
  • Provide clear vision and ensure all staff roles and responsibilities and clearly defined and understood.
  • Ensure your staff are trained to deliver the expected Orega standards.
  • Ensure that Orega’s Health & Safety Policies and Procedures are adhered to.
  • Conduct yourself, at all times, in a professional and responsible manner, promoting a good and proper image of Orega.


  • Fully qualified Accountant ACCA, CIMA or ACA is essential
  • 3-5 years experience as a financial controller/finance manager in a professional organisation where you will have acquired good knowledge of service operations and demonstrable accounting and finance expertise in a commercial environment
  • 2-3 years experience of preparing statutory accounts and year end audit
  • 2-3 years experience of month end financial closedown and associated reporting requirements
  • 2-3 years experience of budgeting, financial planning and forecasting
  • Be willing to be flexible and proactive in a busy and demanding services environment
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of accounting under UK GAAP and The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland” (“FRS 102”)
  • Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Sage etc.)
  • Ability to effectively communicate financial concepts/statistics to finance and non-finance staff
